Saber has had a long relationship with the Sydney Opera House. We have collaborated with them as design consultants, worked on shows and attended countless performances in its beautiful venues. So it holds a special place in our hearts.

The Saber team has been working on the renewal of the Concert Hall with our acoustic partners Muller BBM, theatre machinery experts Theatreplan and under the watchful eye of ARM Architecture.

We underwent an extensive user-requirements gathering process where all stakeholder input was notated, functional outputs determined, and technical design progressed based on those aspirations.

We worked extensively on theatre planning to ensure that performer and equipment circulation is clear of any bottlenecks. We have designed the video and audio distribution, wireless microphone and in-ear systems, network, security and stage management systems so that they are cutting edge and befitting of such a world class venue.

Perhaps our greatest achievement was our collaboration with acousticians who we also partnered with on the sound system and acoustics in the Sydney Opera House’s Joan Sutherland Theatre. The acoustics and sound system have been designed to enable the turnkey transition between reflective acoustics for orchestra and absorbent acoustics for contemporary mode.

These design improvements will enable the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall to continue to live up to its reputation as one of the best concert halls in the world.
